The Medium Extended Air Defense System (MEADS) has been chosen by Germany to form the foundation for its future Air and Missile Defense (AMD) system, known as Taktisches Luftverteidigungssystem or “TLVS”.  TLVS will defeat next-generation threats including tactical ballistic missiles, unmanned aerial systems, cruise missiles and aircraft. Its proven hit-to-kill technology provides the best defense against tactical ballistic missiles armed with weapons of mass destruction. TLVS will be the first air and missile defense (AMD) system to provide continuous on-the-move protection for maneuver forces, area defense, homeland defense and weighted asset protection. Lockheed Martin is partnered with MBDA Deutschland on the TLVS program. Formal TLVS contract negotiations are ongoing in Germany, with a joint goal of having a negotiated contract by the end of 2018. 

The CH-53K is the modern heavy lift solution that will provide the German Armed Forces with a proven heavy lift helicopter that can be entered into service seamlessly without need for upgrades for the next several decades. Built to thrive on the twenty-first century battlefield, including shipboard operations, the CH-53K is an all-new aircraft, using modern intelligent design. It is the best choice for handling missions including humanitarian aid, troop transport, casualty evacuation, special operations support and combat search and rescue. Designed to ensure reliability, low-maintenance, high availability and enhanced survivability in the most austere and remote forward operating bases, the CH-53K will enable the German Armed Forces to conduct bona fide heavy lift operations, while providing the highest degree of safety for its crew and occupants in all conditions. 

The F-35 is the ideal platform to deliver and meet the Bundeswehr’s requirements, and supports Germany’s aspiration to operate as a fully interoperable member of the North Atlantic Treaty Organization (NATO) and coalition operations. It delivers on all set mission requirements outlined in the German Ministry of Defense’s Request For Information (RFI) to replace the Tornado fighter/bomber aircraft. . It has unrestricted ability to operate in highly-defended airspace and can undertake all assigned operational tasks that Germany’s Tornado fleet is tasked with, including air combat and reconnaissance as NATO’s next-generation fighter aircraft system with unmatched reach, persistence and European air dominance. In addition, F-35 will provide unique industrial participation opportunities for German industry with desired robust technical capabilities and global supply chain opportunities for a 30+ year multi-national fighter production program.
